A Homemade Romantic Gift - Greeting Cards and Posters
by Mary
You just can't go wrong with a homemade romantic gift. If fact, these can be the best gifts that can be given.
My sister, for example, knitted an afghan for her boyfriend. One of my old boyfriends made me a curio cabinet and a bookshelf. And still other boyfriend has given me bread and pasta that he made. I loved all of these gifts and loved even more the ones who made them for me.
I don’t have the skill of knitting, or of wood working or carving and am not the best cook in the world. However, I have the ability to write words and to take pictures so the gift that I sometimes give to my romantic partners are homemade posters and greeting cards.
Some people who make greeting cards and posters get some greeting card stock paper, get some pens and some colored pencils, markers, scissors and glue and create everything by hand...
But there are other people like me who have poor printing, poorer handwriting and who don’t cut straight. I have found that homemade posters and greeting cards are easy to make with a Hallmark or an American Greetings Card program on the computer and with some photo-editing software to prepare photographs to be included in greeting cards and posters.
In the past, I used to find all of the photographs I used on the internet and would download them by saving them onto my computer.
I tried to make sure that they were all in the public domain but frankly was never quite sure that they were.
Now, I take my own photos of places and things that I know my romantic partner will like and transfer them onto my computer; then input them into the greeting cards and posters that I make.
I frame the posters and wrap them nicely and enclose the greeting cards in appropriate envelopes.
It can take time to come up with the perfect photos or text, and the words to express the sentiments that I am feeling.
But when I am done writing the card or poster, illustrating it with my own photographs, and editing it so that it looks almost professionally done, I am proud of my work and happy to give it to my romantic partner.
And I know that my romantic partner appreciates this homemade gift because it is a gift of love from my heart.
