Cheap Christmas Cards
by Katie
My favorite way to save money when it comes to Christmas time is to make my own cheap Christmas cards. Sure it takes some time but a lot of us have lost the spirit of Christmas with all that we have to do. I like to bring it back by spending a few hours making something unique from the heart for my favorite people during the holiday season!
Here is what I do:
1. I look for inspiration. I go online and search Christmas cards trying to find something that inspires me. When I have an idea I will write it down and draw a sketch up of how I want it to look.
2. I do not draw well. I then think of what things I can use to help create this image without drawing. I could use a stamp, stencils, stickers, graphics etc. One year I found a great stamp of an angel.
3. The supplies are very inexpensive. I can make 25 cards out of paper that costs 3 dollars and the envelope comes with them. Look for sales at craft stores. A stamp can cost anywhere from a dollar to 10 dollars depending on the size.
4. Here is an example of money spent on my angel card:
3 dollars for cards and envelopes
3 dollars for stamp
2 dollars for markers
I put the stamp on the front of the card. I then colored in the stamp to make it more festive. I then wrote a message to each individual or family on the inside and sent them out.
It was a ton of fun to do. I made them with my mom which was a great bonding moment.
Hope you find inspiration.
