Frugal Gifts
This year more and more people are looking for ways to save money on Christmas but no one wants to give bad or cheap gifts. One great frugal gift for a man who loves to grill is a grilling set from Target. This will only cost $20 but it comes in a nice metal case and all the tools are stainless steel and very functional. Another frugal gift is to give a gift card to a store instead of a restaurant. In giving gift cards to restaurants one always feels the pressure to cover the cost of the meal and so by purchasing a gift card to a store one can save money and the person will still be able to find a great gift. Another great frugal idea is to give chocolate. Chocolate boxes can be a great idea for anyone and can be quite inexpensive depending on the maker. Local chocolate makers often have a great selection for a great price and offer some nice personalized touch. This will satisfy the receiver and not set you back too much in your budget. Another option is to make a batch of fudge and give that out in nice containers which will please anyone on your list.
Frugal Gifts For Kids
I have two beautiful little girls and many nieces and nephews. So, right off the bat, you can't go wrong giving with the following Christmas gifts that they'll actually use:- Stickers - Great frugal gift; especially with the little girls; they love stickers.
- Crayons and Coloring Books
- Puzzles
- Bubbles
- Webkinz
- Board games - We play Trouble, Scrabble, Uno to name a few
- Inexpensive customized t-shirt - We buy cheap t-shirt's and press iron-on decals onto the shirts. The kids love this and you can go with whatever decal is hot at the time (peace signs, Dora, etc.)
- Dollar Store Gifts - Especially the stores that change their inventory often
Cheap Homemade Gift Ideas
- Gift Baskets - There are so many ways to go on this. We make gift baskets full of goodies that people will actually get some use out of. And you can do the same.
Last year our basket had the following: calendar, mug, soaps, lotions, and a movie gift certificate. Really, the possibilities are endless. The key is to fill the basket with inexpensive gifts that people will get practical use out of. - Bake - I like to cook and you can't go wrong with giving out homemade treats like granola bars
- Unique Gift Certificates - We give out our "time". For example, last year, I gave my sister a gift cerfificate good for three nights out while I babysit.
- Music - You can make your own CD of "greatest hits" to give out as Christmas presents
- Jewelry - You can make your own. People love handmade jewelry and it's not hard to do. Just Google "homemade jewelry" and you're off and running
