Cheap Crafts For Kids
I've always enjoyed coming up with ideas for frugal crafts. Tinkering in cheap crafts is both a money saver and enjoyable.
One year I was trying to come up with a frugal craft project that I could do with my kids as a gift for our family.
I had the idea to create pencil holders using toilet paper rolls. My husband works at a church, so he was able to ask the janitor if we could have some of the larger size rolls used in the bathrooms there.
Many workplaces use those, so I think that you could get a hold of some if you choose. Otherwise, you could make a small version using the rolls from home just as well.
We used construction paper and decorated it with crayons, markers, glitter and stickers. Then we glued the paper around the toilet paper rolls.
After that was all the way dry, we took a piece of cardboard from a left over box we had and cut out a circle that was just a little bigger than the roll. We glued it to the bottom of the roll, and had a cute handmade gift to give.
If you want you could complete the gift with some cute inexpensive pencils and pencil toppers. My kids had a great time making them, and our family got a kick out of seeing their creations!
