Guide To Living Cheap

Find It Fast

Below are spectacular frugal living ideas and tips which will serve as your guide to living cheap. Our family has been living frugally (living better on less) for many years; and we've saved a great deal of money in the process.

What are your "BEST" frugal living ideas?

Tips On Frugal Living

  • Affordable Dental

In addition to being a frugal mom, I also work part time as a registered dental hygienist. So, I'll tell you, if you don't have dental insurance coverage, you can get your teeth cleaned at a very minimal cost at your local dental hygienist school.

You'll also get a quality cleaning because the students have to do an excellent job cleaning your teeth.

You see, the students are closely monitored by hygienist professors that base their student evaluations on how well they clean your teeth. This is a fantastic way for you and your family to get a quality cleaning at a substantial discount.

  • Plastic Milk Jugs

When it comes to living the frugal life, this idea will serve you well. You can use a milk jug for draining your vehicles old oil. You can also cut the top of the jug off and use it as a funnel.

Milk jugs can also be reused as an ice water, Kool-Aid or lemonade container.

  • Low Cost Dehumidifier

Especially if you have a basement, to get the moisture out of the air, avoid buying an expensive dehumidifier unit.

Instead, purchase a large bag of calcium chloride and pour the granules into a plastic bowl. Then just place the bowl high up where pets and children cannot reach it.

When you go to change the calcium chloride (monthly) you'll notice the bowl has liquid in it from the moisture it extracted.

Not only is this excellent for absorbing moisture from the air, we also use it to melt ice on our driveway and sidewalks during the winter. You can pick some up at your local Home Depot or hardware store.

  • Long Lasting Bread

To keep your bread from going moldy, keep it in the freezer or the refrigerator if you choose. The bread will last longer this way.

Our family uses the freezer, then uses the defrost setting on the microwave when we want to make a sandwich or what have you.
