Tim and I like to shop at our local farmers market. The vendors there are competing with each other which keep our costs down; not to mention we also get fresh, quality food. If you're not sure what your menu for the week will be, it's all good. Just focus on getting good tasting, affordable vegetarian food because you'll be able to create your own meals as you gain more experience cooking. Or, you can use allrecipes to "create your meals" based on the ingredients you input! You can also save big money by picking your own food. This is also a great deal of fun; especially if you have kids. You'll find so many options as we have.
