Homemade Christmas Gift Baskets, Ideas For A Present
by Sara
Last year, I made homemade Christmas gift baskets for my husband's family. I went and bought a bunch of pretzel sticks and melting chocolate and sprinkles.
I also found a recipe online for homemade hot cocoa mix (but you could always use the store bought kind). I went to the dollar store and got decorative bags and baskets and ribbon and moss or Easter type grass (with Xmas colors).
When I got home, I melted the chocolate and once it was melted, I dipped the pretzel sticks into it and then coated them with red and green sprinkles. After they all dried, I used some decorative bags that I had gotten at the dollar store and ribbon and tied them up into pretty little packets.
Then I got the cocoa powder and poured it into cellophane that was in the shape of a cone. I would fill it up about halfway and then put baby marshmallows in the top and tie off with a ribbon. So each one came out looking like a vanilla ice cream cone. They were very cute.
I also added a couple bags of spiced pecans. I had received a gigantic bag of pecans from someone in my husband's family the year before and I hadn't opened them, so I decided to creatively re-gift them by looking up a recipe for spiced pecans. I put the pecans into decorative bags tied with Christmas-y ribbons and put those into the baskets as well.
The baskets were a real hit and I think people thought we put a lot more effort into it than we really did! They were nothing compared to the wonderful baskets my mother makes, but they were better than people just throwing random stuff in a gift bag without much rhyme or reason to it!
Of all the homemade Christmas present gift ideas, this was near the top of my list!
Here's some other great money saving great frugal Christmas ideas!
