Saving Money during Winter

by Durga Krishnan
(Virginia, US)

One of the biggest expenses I have during winter is my heating bill. This year I decided to do a few things about it.

First I made a couple of door stoppers and put them before every door leading to the outside.

Then I changed all the lightweight curtains of summer to heavy drapes that I could close at night to keep the draft out.

Some nights are just so cold and my toes felt the worst of it, so I made a little toe warmer with cloth and cat litter. I looked online for instructions.

There were a whole lot of crockpot meals and soups with lots of pepper and spice that heated my stomach and my body when wearing layers of clothes didn't.

I also bought myself a jump rope and used it for excercise and to heat my body up when all I felt was cold, lazy and lethargic.
