See yourself as I do – a romantic reflection

by TheFrogPrince&Family

There are so many kinds of homemade gifts to make that even men who do not consider themselves artistic can easily make something both sentimental and practical that their girlfriends or wives will appreciate. There are so many resources for ideas that creativity isn’t an issue unless it was specifically part of your goal, and given the right idea and instructions, many very nice things can be made with minimal skill as well.

One idea I like is to buy a small(ish) to medium-sized, wall-hanging mirror with a metal frame. Preferably, the frame will have pieces of metal widening the frame with a simple design, or at least a double-border with space between the edge and what holds the glass of the mirror itself. You don’t need to invest in something fancy – in fact, the simple ones sold in craft stores can work perfectly – because the metal frame is really just going to provide the framework for what you’re adding on top of it.

Using green or black floral tape (also available in many craft stores and departments), you are going to tightly weave and fix a new border around the mirror, made of florals. High-quality silk florals look almost real, and are easier to maintain and clean without breakage than actual dried flowers, although the latter is an option as well. (You would have to tape one well-drying flower – like a rose – at a time to the framework, doing so sparingly to avoid mildew, but allowing the rose to dry with the correct bend to its stem. Whichever way the flower itself was supposed to point, you’d have to hang the frame temporarily so that that part could point down as the flower dried.) Either way, you end up with a frame bordered by, say, roses, greens, and sprays of white filler (a fine dusting of sheer glitter on just those can be a nice touch).

The tagline to all this? Every time she looks at herself in the mirror, you want her to see herself as you do – a woman who deserves to be given flowers.
