We see it constantly; education costs are going up again. It pretty much becomes expected that this will take place at the turn of each year. This is frustrating at the least for school students and their parents.

Ahh but there is light at the end of the tunnel. We need to work with what we have control over; including college tuition help or even pre-school savings. When it comes to smart ways to save money on education, here's how to keep more cash.

Budgeting For College Students

• Work During School. I worked full time and attended college part time 20 years ago to obtain my undergrad and graduate degrees. I say this not to boast, but to inspire you - it can be done.

• Room Rent. If you go away to college, you can share room rent with someone else - a big cost saver.
• Transit. If you have access to public transit, by all means use it. It's a great way to cut down your costs.

  I have a friend who went to the University of Chicago. What's great is he didn't need an expensive car or car insurance. He used the public transit trains and buses which got him to the university and around the entire city.
